Tarane Bazrafshan is a visual and performance artist. Her practice combines performance, sculpture, and photography in installation-based works. At the core of her work are states of suspension, marked by contradictions, ambiguity, and ongoing negotiation. She translates these conditions into physically demanding performances.
In recent collaborations with artist Max Broda, she has developed works that explore duality, connection, and memory. Bazrafshan’s artistic perspective is shaped by her German-Persian background and reflects the negotiation of experiences between cultures, emotional ambivalence, and a contemplation of past and present.
The radicality of her practice lies in coexistence: in the simultaneity of opposites, in enduring the indeterminate, and in opening spaces where dualities are not resolved but productively sustained. In December 2024, Tarane Bazrafshan had her first institutional solo show at Theater Erfurt, performing Kafka’s "The Burrow".
